Prism Volume
The volume of a prism depends on the base area and the height, calculated as the product of these two parameters of the volumetric figure. The base of the prism can be any polygonal planar geometric figure: triangle, square, rectangle, trapezoid, or hexagon.
Knowing the formula for calculating the volume of a prism may be needed by students for stereometry exams. Designers and engineers often have to solve specific tasks requiring knowledge of the volume determination of prisms with different bases. In production, they often deal with such raw materials as rods with square and hexagonal sections.
Knowing the calculation of the base area and multiplying this parameter by the length of the rod (essentially of the prism) allows calculating its volume. If you divide the mass by the found volume, you can determine the material's density, allowing you to assess the quality of the raw material by comparing it with the values indicated in the accompanying documents.
