Prism Area

Prism Area – is the total value of the areas of all lateral faces, the top and bottom bases. The area of all lateral faces of an arbitrary prism is calculated using the formula S = P x l, where l – edge length, and P – cross-section perimeter, perpendicular to the height h of the solid figure. The areas of the prism's bases are calculated using the formulas for calculating the areas of the corresponding flat polygons.

Calculating the area of a prism is necessary when designing machine parts and various elements of architectural structures.

Prism area calculation is in demand by technologists in various technological processes. The metal products used in production in the form of prisms (square, hexagon) parts sometimes need to be coated with a protective composition.

To calculate the amount of solution components, it is necessary to determine the total area of all the processed parts placed in the bath using the prism area calculation formulas. Performing the same calculations may be needed when painting or impregnating wooden beams.
