How long to charge the battery

When purchasing a battery charger, it may be equipped with indicators that signal a full charge. For example, a small LED or light bulb that glows green during charging and red after completion. However, there are devices without indicators, in which case it is necessary to calculate the time.

For this, you can use the calculator, which will perform calculations automatically after entering the data. Or you can perform all calculations yourself using the formula.

Battery capacity mAh
Charging current mA
Charging time (hour)

We use the formula:
X=1.4*Y/Z
Where:
X – charging time (hours);
1.4 – coefficient that accounts for heat dissipation, as the battery heats up during charging, resulting in some current being spent on heat; Y – battery capacity(mAh);
Z – charging current(mA).

Calculation example:
The battery has a capacity of – 2400
Device current = 150
We have: 1.4*2400/150=22.4 hours.
