Find the density of substance

Density of substance – is measured by a pycnometer, hydrometer, Zeidelmann drill, densimeter, and other devices as the mass of a unit volume of substance. Density is calculated through the ratio of mass to volume m/V. Under the influence of heating (increase in temperature) the density indicator of substances changes.

In most cases, density increases, but for water, cast iron, and bronze the behavior is different. Water reaches maximum density at plus 4 °C, if the temperature is changed in any direction from this point, the density of water will decrease.

In the construction, mechanical engineering, and other industrial fields, it is important to monitor the uniformity of density, as the presence of voids, grains of lesser density can significantly affect the strength qualities of parts.
