Marking SMD resistors
Calculator SMD-resistors – this is an online program that allows you to determine the marking of a fixed resistor used in surface mounting. Such devices are characterized by power and tolerance limits, so they have different markings, and when choosing, you need to know which model is suitable for a specific purpose.
If previously special tables were used to determine the marking, now you can use an online program, which has many advantages: it is enough to indicate the resistance value in the corresponding field, and the calculator will display the value of the resistor's digital marking, the data provided by the program are based on officially accepted tables.
Such devices have relatively small dimensions, so almost all models are marked with an alphanumeric combination. The value depends on the size and tolerance indicator:
thus, resistors with an error within 2-10% have a marking of 3 digits, of which the first two are used to denote the mantissa, and the last digit indicates the exponent with a decimal base. The finished value is indicated in Ohms.
For clarity, the following examples can be considered:
• If a resistor has the code 473, the first digits indicate the value of the mantissa, and 3 – is the exponent to which 10 must be raised. In other words, a resistor with the marking 473 = 47 * 103 = 47 kOhm.
• If a device has a 4-digit marking, for example, 5102, it means that its value is 510 * 102 = 51 kOhm. Such values can be found in models with a low resistance indicator, their size starts from 0805, and the tolerance is 1%. In them, the first three digits indicate the mantissa.
