Mixed Fraction
Mixed fraction – is a fraction that has a whole part and a proper (less than one in modulus) fractional part. Example: 5 1/3. In the practice of various types of mathematical calculations, there is a need to solve both the task of converting a mixed fraction into an improper one and the reverse conversion.
Online calculator performs the conversion of an improper fraction into a mixed one. Let's consider an example: improper fraction 72/5 when converted turns into 14 2/5.
The numerator is divided by the denominator, and it is determined how many times the value of the denominator fits without a remainder into the value of the numerator. In our case, 14 times – this will be the whole part of the mixed fraction. 14 x 5 = 70, the remainder from the division will be 72-70 = 2. «2» fits into the numerator of the fractional part of the mixed number. The denominators in both cases are the same.
