Golden Ratio
When we search for the golden ratio, we divide the whole into two different proportions, one part of which (larger) will relate to the whole, and the other – to the larger. This concept is often encountered in architecture, painting, sculpture, etc. The golden ratio is a harmonic proportion. We often encounter this concept also in mathematics. In proportion, two ratios are always equal: A:B=C:D. We can divide a line segment AB, into 2 equal parts as well as into 2 unequal (proportions, in this case, will not be).
If we divide our segment into 2 equal parts, it will look like this: AB : AC = AB : BC. As for unequal parts of the segment, we follow this formula: AB : AC = AC : BC. The second case we can confidently call the golden ratio.
