Length, modulus of vector
Vector – is a segment of a certain direction. In numerical expression, it is called the length or modulus of the vector. The length is recorded as follows: IAVI. The length of vector AV (x; y) is calculated by the formula determining the square root of the sum of the squares of the values X and Y.
To calculate the length of the vector IAVI (4; 6), you need to substitute the coordinates X and Y into the formula. That is, IAVI is equal to the square root of the sum of the squares of 4 and 6. Knowing the coordinates of points on the plane, you can calculate the length of the vector IAVI.
For example:
given points A(2; 4) and B(4; 8);
substitute the data into the formula determining the square root of the sum of the squares of the differences of the abscissas and ordinates of points A and B;
we get the data.
You can simplify the calculation process by using an online calculator. You need to select the type of space and enter the values in the corresponding fields X and Y (Z – in the three-dimensional system).
