Progression

Progression in general terms is a sequential collection of values of quantities, in which a certain dependence of each subsequent value on the previous one is maintained. In engineering and other calculations, both arithmetic and geometric progressions are in demand.

In arithmetic, each subsequent number of the collection is greater than the previous one by a certain added fixed number. In geometric, the same is true, but multiplication is performed.
